THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF RAY GORDON | — THROTTLED –

May 1, 2011

One of my big regrets of the year is that I wasn’t able to squirrel away the time & resources to make the trip out for –THROTTLED– Ray Gordon’s rad photography exhibition held last February at Wieden+Kennedy (Portland, OR).  Ray was cool enough to share some of the amazing pics, which just makes me feel even shittier for missing out on what was no doubt an epic event.

    >> What BR said!

I would like to know the story behind the Camaro ~25 feet in the air and flying dirt alongside it.

We put a 2×4 between the drivers seat and the gas pedal of that Camaro and launched it off a cliff for the shoot. After the crash landing we had a friend with a Hummer drag it up to the side of the highway with a chain. We then called AAA and told them we needed a tow. The tow truck driver was really confused and bummed. We told him “it just got away from us”… It’s really amazing at how long it stayed airborn and how quiet a flying Camaro is.

Hi, is the first bike a Triton?

    • May 3, 2011 2:53 pm

The first bike is an Honda XR500 customized by Thor Drake at See See Motorcycles. http://www.seeseemotorcycles.com/
Notice the aluminum swing arm in the back. Big single with tons of torque turned into a vintage looking racer. Cool bike

Strange how your blog parallels things I come across in my day to day… I just sold a SR500 chassis & motor, like 2 months ago, To a guy who told me about See See Motorcycles and TheOneMotorcycleShow.com He told me how that show & particularly the style of the SeeSee bike was his inspiration for a project. I’d never heard of them, but am glad I did! Now here it is mentioned above.
    Great Photos! Thanks

Forget the flying car….I love the last picture: pretty girl, makeshift matress, a few beers, summer evening….just great.
