BIKES, BIKINIS, BEER & BEACH PT. II VINTAGE DAYTONA BEACH BIKE WEEK

Part II of an amazing rewind back to old-school Daytona Beach courtesy of Regis Decobeck, who was there to capture these incredible black & white images from ’74 – ’78.  Thank God for that.  Regis saw the original post – BIKES, BIKINIS, BEER & BEACH | VINTAGE DAYTONA BEACH BIKE WEEK – and generously offered-up these priceless gems for the enjoyment of our TSY readers.  God bless ya’!  Enjoy y’all.

  1. Great photos from a bygone era. The “Custom WTF” is just your every day Chevy smallblock powered motorcycle. This one may have been inspired by E.J. Potter’s 327-powered Bloody Mary drag bike. The Bloody Mary made its appearance around this time.

  2. I love all the dudes standing around looking at the bikes as if they’re waiting for them to speak words of wisdom or tell jokes. Of course, LSD was sold like chiclets at the Mexican border in those days on the streets of Daytona, so who knows wtf they’re saying.

    • Nicky-

Take a better look at that bike and you’ll see why all the vacant stares… that ain’t no v-twin.

  3. Wow… superb shots… that “Kustom WTF” is just that…WTF????
And that “Krazy Kustom Rat Wagon” is, what’d they say in those days…”Totally RAD!”

  4. That rat wagon thing is a better use of a ’30-’31 Model A Sport Coupe and a Deuce grille shell than I see these days in Daytona.

And that trike looks like an old Ed Roth kit – but I’m dying to know what’s going on with the viking chariot in soft focus behind him…

    GOOD stuff!

  6. The V-8 bike builder just lacked the idea to turn the motor 90° and beat Boss Hoss to the punch…

  7. As always, an interesting peek into a bygone day. I still don’t get the appeal of the trikes, but then again, I guess people like me aren’t supposed to.
